⚾ Volunteer Clearances & Requirements ⚾

To ensure the safety of our players and comply with Pennsylvania Law (23 Pa C.S. § 6344.2), all Brookhaven Babe Ruth volunteers must complete the following steps before starting. Clearances are valid for 5 years. (Save copies to your computer or email copies to yourself to easily locate them later).

Step 1: Obtain Your Mandatory Clearances

Every volunteer must obtain these two documents (Free for volunteers):

Step 2: Residency Requirement (Choose One)

Lived in PA for 10+ consecutive years? Complete the Volunteer Disclosure Statement. Must be printed and signed.

Lived in PA less than 10 years? You must complete a FBI Fingerprint Background Check. Note: A small third-party fee applies.

Step 3: SportsEngine Upload & Training

Create/Login: Access your SportsEngine Account and request a "Brookhaven Babe Ruth Coach" or "Brookhaven Babe Ruth Non-Coach Volunteer" membership.
Upload: Upload your Step 1 & 2 documents during the background screening process.
- Contact the league for a discount code to cover the nationwide screening fee.
Training: Complete the Abuse Prevention Systems training within your SportsEngine dashboard.

Step 4: For Coaches Only

All managers and coaches must complete the Coaching the Babe Ruth Way online course. This is a one-time requirement and must be finished before the end of your first season.

This is not required for "Non-Coach Volunteers" i.e. bench moms or other team helpers.
